There are direct flights from most Australian capital cities and all major domestic airports in New Zealand to Queenstown International Airport (ZQN). Be prepared for the most picturesque flight of your life!
Queenstown airport is a only 15 min drive from the city centre and there are many options to get there:
If you plan to drive up the mountain you are required to carry chains with you at all times, you will only be asked to fit them when conditions require. Please note 4WD vehicles are still required to carry chains.
If you are travelling from outside of New Zealand, yes. Queenstown is an international location and you will require a valid passport for travel. If you are not travelling on an Australian passport, make sure you have the correct visa.
You must follow all current New Zealand entry requirements as well as any new requirements which may come into effect prior to arrival, including vaccination and testing requirements. You can check and follow all departure and re-entry requirements for New Zealand and Australia here.
In the event of extreme weather conditions, the resorts might deem it unsafe to be on the mountain, in which case the Après Stages won’t be running. We will notify ticket holders as soon as possible with any schedule changes. Don’t worry though, our Main Arena will keep the party going through the wind and rain. Let’s keep fingers crossed for bluebird days!
Yes! The resorts in Queenstown have slopes that are beginner friendly and there is an Après Stages on both mountains that you don’t need to ski/board to. If you’re a beginner, or want to build up your confidence on the piste, you can book a lesson on our online store.
Queenstown is home to two world class ski resorts, The Remarkables and Coronet Peak. They are both well suited to all levels and abilities.
Both ski resorts are a short drive from the city centre – we highly recommend jumping on a bus or carpooling as the car parks can get very busy!
Most accommodation is within walking distance to the town centre, however if your property is a further out of town there is a great public transport system and plenty of taxis available.
Snow Machine will follow the New Zealand government’s COVID-19 protection framework required for events.
Please note that transport is NOT included in ticket or package bookings.
We will sell mountain transfer passes on our online store which give you access to the shuttles going to both Coronet Peak and The Remarkables.
Main Arena Shuttles will also be sold in the weeks running up to the festival. You can also pick these up in the Snow Machine Store during festival week.
Bus timetables and locations will be released on the Snow Machine App in the weeks before the festival.
